Easter Sunday - 05/04/2026

Easter is an important holiday within the Christian faith. The holiday celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ, occurring after the end of the 40-day period known as Lent. This year, Easter is Sunday 5th April. The date of the holiday changes depending on the year, as Easter occurs on the first Sunday after the Paschal full moon, which is the first full moon on or after March 21st.

Church services and prayer are some ways that people observe the holiday. In other cases, some enjoy a more secular celebration of Easter with bunnies, baskets and colourful eggs.

St. George's Day - 23/04/2026

St. George’s Day in England remembers St. George, England’s patron saint. He’s popularly identified with England and English ideals of honour, bravery and gallantry. Legend has it that he was a Roman soldier who slew a dragon and saved a princess.

The legend of Saint George and the Dragon describes the saint taming and slaying a dragon that demanded human sacrifices. We celebrate St. George’s Day on April 23rd every year, to mark the anniversary of his death in 303 AD.

In the England flag, the red cross over a white background has meaning. It’s actually St. George’s Cross, a symbol so closely intertwined with English national identity that St. George has his own national holiday.
