OCTOBER 2025

Black history month

Black History Month

Black History Month is a momentous occasion to recognise and celebrate the invaluable contributions of black people to British society. It also serves as an opportunity to inspire and empower future generations.

The theme for Black History Month UK 2025 is “Standing Firm in Power and Pride,” a powerful tribute to the resilience, strength, and unwavering commitment to progress that defines the Black community across the globe. This year, the theme highlights the profound contributions made by Black people be they leaders, activists, or pioneers who have shaped history, while also looking towards a future of continued empowerment, unity, and growth.

Dyslexia Awareness Week - 06/10/2025 - 12/10/2025

The British Dyslexia Association is the UK’s leading dyslexia charity. It is dedicated to promoting a dyslexia friendly society that enables dyslexic people of all ages to reach their full potential. Each person with dyslexia experiences it in ways unique to them and each will have their own set of strengths and challenges and tread their own path through life. We want to celebrate the diversity of the dyslexic community and the rich variety of lived experiences of dyslexia.

This year’s theme will focus on the voices of young people with dyslexia – their stories, challenges, and successes. By “raising the volume,” we want to make sure their experiences are heard loud and clear in schools, families, workplaces, and beyond.

World Mental Health Day

World Mental Health Day - 10/10/2025

World Mental Health Day takes place every year on 10 October. It’s a reminder of the importance of good mental health and the need to prioritise this. World Mental Health Day is an opportunity for us all to consider how, together, we can help everyone have better mental health.

Mental health matters on the days when everything happens and the days when nothing happens. When life is busy and unpredictable and when it’s quiet and ordinary too. Mental health is important every day. Together we can make sure everyone sees it that way.

World Menopause Day - 18/10/2025

World Menopause Day is held every year on the 18th of October to raise awareness about the impact the condition has on the lives of women around the world. Despite affecting about half of the world’s population, menopause isn’t talked about as much as it should be!

The purpose of the day is to raise awareness of the menopause and the support options available for improving health and wellbeing. Professionals and women are encouraged to participate in this global awareness by sharing materials to engage their communities.

Remembrance Sunday - 09/11/2025

Remembrance Sunday is a national opportunity to remember the service and sacrifice of all those that have defended our freedoms and protected our way of life. We remember the Armed Forces, and their families, from Britain and the Commonwealth, the vital role played by the emergency services and those who have lost their lives as a result of conflict or terrorism.

The day is marked by war remembrances in several countries. In most countries, Remembrance Day is observed on 11 November to recall the end of First World War hostilities, which formally ended “at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month” of 1918.

Anti-Bullying Week - 10/11/2025 - 14/11/2025

Anti-Bullying Week 2025 will take place from Monday 10th – Friday 14th November, with the theme: Power for Good. Anti-Bullying Week is coordinated in England, Wales and Northern Ireland by the Anti-Bullying Alliance, who are a unique coalition of organisations and individuals, working together to stop bullying and create safer environments.

Following the success of the campaign in 2024 – when over 80% of schools marked the week, reaching over 7.5 million children and young people – this year, ABA empower children and young people to use their Power for Good to speak out, support others, and build a world where kindness wins.

world-diabetes-day

World Diabetes Day - 14/11/2025

1 in 10 adults worldwide have diabetes. Over 90% have type 2 diabetes. Close to half are not yet diagnosed. In many cases, type 2 diabetes and its complications can be delayed or prevented by adopting and maintaining healthy habits. Knowing your risk and what to do is important to support prevention, early diagnosis and timely treatment.

The campaign focus for 2025 is ‘Diabetes and the workplace’. Millions of people with diabetes face daily challenges managing their condition in the workplace, including stigma, discrimination and exclusion. This has a negative impact on their well-being. Help raise awareness about the physical and mental challenges of diabetes and prioritise well-being in the workplace.
