Off The Job Training
Off-the-job training is a statutory requirement for all apprenticeships and is built into your programme. It focuses on developing new knowledge, skills, and behaviours directly linked to your apprenticeship and must take place during your normal working hours but outside your usual job duties. Please note that time spent solely studying English or maths does not count as off-the-job training.
The minimum required hours for off-the-job training are set by the Department for Education and are fully embedded within our curriculum. Lesson plans will clearly show how each activity meets apprenticeship requirements and can be adapted to suit you and your employer’s needs. These activities are planned, agreed, and recorded on your study plan, with your employer and tutor confirming they take place as required.
Your tutor will review your off-the-job training monthly, and you will need to confirm your completed activities and hours through the Learning Assistant portal. This electronic confirmation is vital, as it replaces paper signatures. For full details of your required off-the-job hours, please refer to your individual training plan.
